Circumnavigation of the Forest raises £900 for disability charity

Two Sway residents have raised more than £900 for New Milton-based New Forest Disability Information Service by walking around the perimeter of the Crown Lands of the Forest.  The pair, Chandran Krishnasamy (Chan) and Mark Parker, started from the Silver Hind pub in Sway and walked clockwise around the edge of the open forest, camping overnight and taking 4 days to complete the 66 -mile walk. This was 72-year-old Mark’s third sponsored walk for the charity, previous hikes being the Cape Wrath Trail in Scotland, and the GR-78 trail in the Pyrenees.

Chan commented “Although I’m nursing a couple of blisters, this was a great event and we saw parts of the Forest we would never otherwise has visited. We’re grateful to all our sponsors, especially at the Silver Hind in Sway and the Turfcutters in East Boldre, and to our wives for their support”
