New Milton Friends Group Sponsorship - November 2013

We are very graetful to the New Milton Friends Group
for sponsoring a special edition leaflet about NFDIS'
role providing advice for the patients and their families
at Lymington New Forest Hospital.

Our Outreach Worker visits in-patients on the wards
and has the time to chat with them, about anything that is
non-medical, to help them when they are discharged.

This may be entitlement to welfare benefits, access to
services, introducing them to social or support groups,
or the provision of cooked meals, or securing some help
to make the transition to living at home again.

NFDIS are very proud to be working alongside our colleagues
at HCC Adult Services, each complimenting the other's roles,
to ensure the patients receive the best advice.

To find out more about the New Milton Friends Group please use
their contact details listed on the leaflet.

Council gives hundreds to local causes

Advertiser and Times 27 April 2013

Volunteers from a number of New Milton charities were praised for their hard work and
presented with cheques for hundreds of pounds at the town council's annual meeting.
First Opportunities, an Ashley based pre-school for children with special needs, received £300
from the council.  Geoff Pitts was presented with the donation.
North Milton Community Group's Wendy Celia received £350 to help run street parties

and events in the area, and New Forest Disability Information Service's Jacki Keable was given £900.
She said the charity felt 'very honoured' to be the recipients of funding two years running and pointed out the group had, for the first time, helped more than 2,000 clients.

Common Ground's Lisa Thompson received £1,000 towards events such as the Freshfields Festival,
and Valerie Kemp from New Milton Carers' Group accepted a cheque for £200.

New Milton Rotarians Sponsorship - April 2013

It is a record - 2000th client!

Friday 18 March 2013 was a record breaking day when

Information Officer Sheila helped the 2,000th client to contact NFDIS since April 2012!

With two weeks still to go of the current year, for the first time ever, NFDIS have helped

2,000 clients...and the team look set to hit 2,100 before March 30th.

Information Officer Sheila

It was fitting that stalwart volunteer Sheila, who has been an Information Officer for

over seven years, took the enquiry from client number 2,000 - it just shows how much

busier the Team are this year than last...and we believe the next twelve months will see

an even larger call upon the advice of the NFDIS Team, especially with all

the changes to welfare benefits planned for 2013.

Congratulations to all the NFDIS Team - what would folk do without you?

Press Release February 2013

The Good People of New Milton Dug Deep!

The New Forest Disability Information Service (NFDIS) were delighted to be given the opportunity by Morrisons in Station Road, New Milton, for store collection days on Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 January.

The generous shoppers showed their appreciation of this charities free disability advice service by ‘digging deep’ and a total of £271.07 was raised which will go towards the printing of Resource Sheets which NFDIS give to clients to explain their rights and benefit entitlements.

‘It is heartening in a time of austerity that so many people supported us, we thank each and every one of them, along with our wonderful collectors who gave freely of their time, and to Morrisons New Milton for making it all possible’.
